Beer, meet whiskey.
Oak & Eden proudly introduces our third small batch release, a product collaboration with Rahr & Sons Brewery out of Fort Worth, TX. This time, however, we’re not just releasing a single whiskey, but a pair. Say hello to Rahr Soaked Malted Oak and Hopped Oak. These releases are as big and bold as the Texans who made them.
Oak & eden bourbon finished with a rahr & Sons iron thistle scottish ale soaked oak spire
Rahr Soaked Malted Oak
Our bourbon begins with a remarkably smooth combination of corn, rye and barley. Once distilled, we age our bourbon for two years in new barrels made of American oak producing a rich, deep yet sweet spirit that is a pleasure to imbibe. We bottle our bourbon at 90 proof.
Now that our masterpiece is bottled, the work of finishing begins. Unlike traditional finished whiskey, we do not rest our whiskey in a secondary cask, but finish our whiskey "in-bottle". We do this by resting the cask, or more precisely, a spiral cut piece of wood in our bottle. In the Bourbon & Iron Thistle, we selected a spire cut from American Oak, due to the density of the wood and botanicals it imparts, creating a sweet, creamy finish.
Before soaking in Rahr & Sons Iron Thistle Scottish Ale, we expose the spire to a significant amount of fire, charring and caramelizes the wood, producing a charcoal filter and finishing agent for our spirit.
Rahr & Sons Iron Thistle Scottish Ale
Whiskey on the front, beer on the finish. The unique combination of vanilla, coconut, and honey coming from the bourbon, mixed with the depth and character of Rahr & Sons’ Iron Thistle Scottish Ale produces a rich flavor of whiskey on the nose and palate with beer on the finish. Pleasant & balanced.

OAK & EDEN rye finished WITH a RAHR & SONS dadgum ipa soaked oak spire
Rahr Soaked Hopped Oak
We begin this expression with our award-winning rye whiskey. Spicy and yet surprising mellow, 95% Straight Rye whiskey is our foundation, aged for 2 years in new, charred American Oak barrels. While spicy, our rye whiskey is not characterized as “hot” or “punchy,” but rather smooth and full of unique characteristics.

Fire and heat are used to toast our spires, extracting botanicals and flavor expressions that are imparted to our bourbon and finishing our spirit. A light toast gives the whiskey a sweeter profile.
