an oak & Eden small batch whiskey
Rye, with a Caribbean twist.
Oak & Eden is pleased to introduce our second small-batch expression, Rye & Rumba. We start with our award-winning rye whiskey, aged for two years in new American charred oak barrels, producing a rich, deep and sweet, yet slightly spicy spirit. We then add our spire – a 5” long spiral cut piece of American Oak that had soaked in a Caribbean rum for 6 weeks before allowing it to rest in our bottle, finishing our Rye & Rumba whiskey.
Spicy and yet surprising mellow, 95% Straight Rye whiskey is our foundation, aged for 2 years in new, charred American Oak barrels. Next, we add, in-bottle, a Caribbean-Rum soaked Spire of wood to finish our Rye Whiskey and add sweetness, character and complexity. Remarkable if enjoyed neat, or in your favorite cocktail.
Now that our masterpiece is bottled, we begin our inspirational, finishing work. Unlike traditional finished whiskey, we do not rest our whiskey in a secondary cask, but finish our whiskey "in-bottle". We do this by resting the cask, or more precisely, a spiral cut piece of wood in our bottle. This “inspiration”, or as we call it, our “spire”, is made of American Oak, slightly toasted and precisely crafted to impart sweet notes and balance.
Fire and fire alone are used to char these spires. The intense heat coming from the fire caramelizes the wood, producing a charcoal filter and finishing agent for our spirit.
